Annie Hinton will be teaching Beginning Acting at City College in the Fall. She taught for City in the past and we're delighted she's returning.
Annie is an Independent
Theatre Artist with numerous teaching, acting, writing, directing and producing
credits here in San Diego and elsewhere. Originally from Wyoming, she received
her MFA in Acting from the University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training
Program in Seattle. She has taught Acting, Playwriting, Acting for the
Camera, Voice and Speech, Intro to Theatre, Dramatic Literature, Cinema as Art
and Theatre History.
A Founder of the
Actors Alliance of San Diego and former Artistic Director for Planned
Parenthood’s images theatre, she has worked as a dialect coach for La Jolla
Playhouse, Cygnet Theatre, New Village Arts, and Moonlight Theatre as well as a
teaching artist for Playwright’s Project, the Old Globe Theatre, and La Jolla
Playhouse. An exuberant Freeway-Flyer Professor of many years, she has traveled
thousands of miles teaching at USD, UCSD, SDSU, Cal State San Marcos,
University of Wyoming, and Mesa, City, Grossmont, and Southwestern Colleges.
As an actress, Annie
has been seen regionally at Seattle Rep, Old Globe Theatre, Empty Space Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, Seattle Children’s
Theatre, and New Mexico Rep. Local theatre credits include: San Diego Rep,
Cygnet Theatre, Ion Theatre, Diversionary Theatre, North Coast Rep, Gaslamp
Quarter Theatre, and the Avo Playhouse. Film/TV credits: Bring It On, 29th & Gay, Outta
Time, The Jenni Project
(Disney), Veronica Mars and
many others. Her plays have won several awards: Dorland Mountain Arts Grant (Cecil Without Artie); San Diego Public
Arts Grant (MotherTongues);
Best of Fest, Actors Alliance Festival (O’Lanskey,
Sweet Dreams For A.J.). She will be
seen in Well at Diversionary Theatre next and will direct Clybourne Park for Palomar
College next Spring.
