Mala
By Melinda Lopez
Directed by David Dower
She was always the
good daughter. But now her mother, in the twilight of her life, calls her
“mala”—bad to the core. Melinda Lopez’s funny, brutally honest, and
ultimately cathartic solo play is an irreverent exploration of how we live,
cope, and survive in a challenging moment, and what happens when we strive to
be good but don’t always succeed. Theatermania calls it “deeply affecting,”
while The Boston Globe named it “one of the best plays of the year.
Piercingly honest and exquisitely moving.”

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very powerful and personal play. I'm intrigued by the relationship between the daughter and the mother, and how they deal with the end of life and the meaning of being good. I'm also impressed by the accolades that the play has received from critics and audiences. I would love to see this play and witness Melinda Lopez's performance and writing. How can I get the free tickets for the opening night? Do I need to register online or just show up at the standby line? Do you have a website or a social media page where I can find more information? I hope you have a successful opening night and a great run.
