Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival participation
Both Macbeth and Twelfth Night were entered into the American College Theatre Festival. Directors/educators from outside of City College attended the plays and provided feedback to everyone involved with the productions. The festival is typically held regionally each February; the 2021 festival was held virtually, and the 2022 festival will also be virtual.
One of the aspects of KCACTF is that two actors are selected from each production to participate in the Irene Ryan Scholarship competition. Actors will perform a monologue and a scene, and they have the chance to advance to semi-finals and finals. The top performers can get a nice monetary prize as well as a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete at the national level.
The actors selected from Macbeth are Yvana Alvarez and JD de la Cruz. From Twelfth Night: Gabriela d'Amico and Angel Lopez Rodriguez.
