You will
need to arrive no later than one hour before curtain (7:00 for Fridays
and Saturdays and 1:00 for Sundays). You may leave after the show has ended and
the theatre has been cleaned. Check in with Box Office Manager Alfonso Perez and
Technical Director Rob Norberg. Keep your cell phones turned off and stowed,
and let’s be dressy.
Looking for ten-minute plays and monologues. Monologues should not exceed 4 pages in length.
* Ten Minute Plays cannot exceed 10 pages in length and contain no more than two characters. Plays should have a single setting. No exceptions.
* Monologues cannot have more than one character.
* Please submit your play with full name and title of play. EXAMPLE - Tina.Adams-The Broken Promise.
If your play is selected you must enroll for DRAMA 242 during the Spring 2019 semester at SD City College. Selected playwrights/students must be available on varying dates for workshops, talk-backs and productions between Jan 29-Mar 17, 2019. No exceptions.
Selected playwrights will be noticed near the end of the calendar year. All plays are considered workshop productions and will be treated as such. This means that if your play is selected we will be working collaboratively in order to find it's final form. Playwriting is an artistic process and your play, if selected, will be treated as such. San Diego City College is an educational institution and is committed to the development of new work.
If you have participated in the New Works Festival you may submit again.
All plays must be properly formatted. This means 12-point font, Time New Roman or Courier font only.
The festival will consist of 6-9 monologue/ ten minute plays.
SUBMISSION PERIOD: October 15-December 9, 2018. Submission will close after December 9th.
