Emmelyn is
an actor, professor, and dialect coach with extensive training in both classical
and musical theatre. She received her
MFA from The Old Globe/USD Graduate Acting Program, and recently returned to the program as a guest instructor for Voice and Speech.
As a professor
for Mesa and City College, Emmelyn has taught Acting, Introduction to Dramatic Arts,
Beginning Voice, Musical Theatre, Acting for Film, Shakespeare, Theatre History, and Cinema as Art/Communication. She recently directed for City’s 4th Annual
Festival of New Plays, and her directing credits at Mesa include You Will Be Found: A Musical Revue, Peter and the Starcatcher and Let It Come Down: A Devised Shakespeare
Project.
Emmelyn has also
been a local dialect coach for over 10 years, working with Cygnet Theatre, ion theatre, San Diego Junior Theatre, The Bishop’s School, Carlsbad
Playreaders and the USD undergraduate and MFA theatre programs.
As an actor,
Emmelyn’s Old Globe credits include Thaisa in Pericles, Rebecca in Loves
& Hours (world premiere), Jane Carpenter in Smash,
Hermione in The Winter’s Tale and Miss Prism in The Importance of
Being Earnest. She is a recipient of several acting awards
including the Craig Noel MFA Fellowship and the Horrigan Award for Theatre.
